Mains versus Wireless Networking

Wireless networks are great, allowing you to use your laptop in the garden and so on. But once the novelty has worn off there are downsides! Quite often the signal proves a little unreliable, and walls sometimes prevent the system working at all.

The ethernet over mains option is so simple to install and use that it must be considered when thinking about a "wireless" network. Just remove one from its box, plug it into the mains socket and connect its ethernet cable to your router, or a hub providing a LAN connection, and then just plug the other device into the mains and connect the cable to an ethernet port on a PC or a hub and it is as if they were both connected by a physical network cable!
